Italian Language Certifications

There are several Italian language Certifications issued by universities, cultural institutions, and certified language schools globally. The CLIQ (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità) includes only these four official language certifications.

CILS, CELI, PLIDA, CERT-IT

CELI: Certificato Di Conoscenza Della Lingua Italiana

The CELI is a certificate released by Università per Stranieri di Perugia, granted by CVCL (Il Centro per La Valutazione e Le Certificazioni Linguistiche), through ALTE (Associazione Europea degli Esaminatori Linguistici) possessing the QMark (il bollino di qualità europeo) and recognized by MIUR (il Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca).

o   This course is suitable for non-native speakers, citizenship & Immigrations, students and working professionals.

o   The core areas to be covered are writing, oral, listening and reading.

CILS: Certificazione Di Italiano Come Lingua Straniera

The CILS is a certification awarded by the Università per Stranieri di Siena, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

o   The core areas to be covered are writing, oral, listening and reading.

o   This course is suitable for non-native speakers, citizenship & Immigrations, students and professionals.

Module 1

(CEFR A1): For children and young people at school

(CEFR B1): For upper secondary school abroad (14-16 years), for foreign immigrants and citizenship.

(CEFR B2): For High school (16-18 years), for the children of foreign immigrants, for working professionals

(CEFR C1): For foreign language teachers, legal assistants, administrative and accounting managers, specialists at Chambers of Commerce, for the children of foreign immigrants seeking University admissions, to carry out an internship.

An optimal level for Italian language & culture teachers, for interpreters and translators at the diplomat &-consulate network.

Module 2

B1 Citizenship

o   The CILS B1 Citizenship exam has a different construct and format than the CILS UNO B1 exam.

o   The B1 Citizenship describes a limited portion of competence than the standard B1.

o   It helps to get the Italian dual citizenship application by marriage or residency.

o   There is no capitalization for these levels.

Module 3

New Integration – Level A1 / A2

o   Research and innovations taken into account.

o   There is no capitalization for these levels.

PLIDA: Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri

The PLIDA is a certification awarded by the Associazione Dante Alighieri, affiliated to ALTE (Associazione Europea degli Esaminatori Linguistici) and recognized by MIUR (il Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca).

o   With PLIDA certificate, one can enroll in Italian University, Obtain long-term residency permit.

o   The core areas to be covered are writing, oral, listening and reading.

CERT-IT: Certificazione Italiano

Certificazione Italiano issue by The Università di Roma Tre, recognized by MIUR (il Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca).

o   The core areas to be covered are writing, oral, listening and reading.

AIL, DITALS, CEDILS and DILS

AIL: The Accademia Italiana Di Lingua

The AIL certifications are internationally recognized, in an association of schools, institutions. National and foreign professionals working in the field of teaching Italian to non-Italian speakers, to obtain diplomas in business language.

o   The DILC / DALC tests business Italian.

o   It is recognized by the UFFT (Swiss Federal Office for professional education and technology)

o   The core areas to be covered are writing, oral, listening and reading.

o   The AIL exams and the CILS exams are the most recognized globally.

DELI (Diploma Elementare di Lingua Italiana): (CEFR A1 / A2)

DILI (Diploma Intermedio Di Lingua Italiana): (CEFR B1 / B2)

DALI (Diploma Avanzato Di Lingua Italiana): (CEFR C1 / C2)

DILC (Diploma Intermedio di Lingua Italiana Commerciale): (CEFR B1)

DITALS: Dedicato A Futuri Insegnanti Di Italiano A Stranieri

The DITALS Certification is a cultural title awarded by the “Università per Stranieri di Siena”, recognized by the Italian ministry, that assesses the qualifications of Italian teachers teaching to Foreigners.

o   The core areas to be covered are writing, oral, listening and reading.

CEDILS: La Certificazione Della Competenza In Didattica Dell’italiano Come Lingua Straniera

The CEDILS Certification is to assess the qualifications of Italian teachers teaching to Foreigners, issued by the ITAL Laboratory of the University of Venice, recognized by the Ministry of Education.

o   CEDILS VENEZIA certification is not to assess a teaching qualification, but a cultural qualification.

o   The core areas to be covered are reading, oral, listening and reading.

Note: CEDILS examination takes place thrice a year in Venice and Once a year at various registered institute.

DILS-PG (Didattica Dell’italiano Lingua Straniera)

The DILS-PG is a certificate to assess the qualifications of Italian teachers teaching to Foreigners, released by Università per Stranieri di Perugia, granted by CVCL (Il Centro per La Valutazione e Le Certificazioni Linguistiche).

CIC: Certificazione dell'italiano commerciale

This certification for Business Italian, issued by the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, through ALTE (Associazione Europea degli Esaminatori Linguistici) and recognized by the Italian Department/ Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

There are two levels for this one:

CIC – B1 (CEFR B1)

CIC- C1 (CEFR C1)

Note: CIC examination takes place once a year (June) at Castiglioncello.

In India, Instituto Italiano di Cultura in New Delhi and Mumbai are two authorized test centres for various International Italian tests.

Korean Language Certifications

Korean Proficiency Test helps to study, work, or immigrate to South Korea. There are two types of certifications with multiple levels and sub levels. TOPIK & KLPT S-TOPIK: Standard Test of Proficiency in Korean NIIED (National Institute for International Education) administers the TOPIK globally. Additionally, the KIIP program comprises Korean language training and understanding Korean Society and helps in the KIIP (Korea Immigration and Integration Program) operated by the Ministry of Justice.
