Turkish is the official language in Turkey and Cyprus and is spoken in more than nine countries as mother tongue, Iraq, Syria, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Romania, Albania, Serbia, Greece, the Caucasus, and other parts of Europe and Central Asia.
There are three Turkish Proficiency Tests.
Turkish Proficiency Exam - Türkçe Yeterlik Sınavı (TYS)
Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Turkish Education Directorate carries out certification programs. It also organizes in-service training programs for teachers in the field, both in Turkey and abroad.
Yunus Emre Enstitüsü designed the TYS (Türkçe Yeterlik Sınavı) test course according to the guidelines of the CEFR from beginners (A1) to Advance (C2) level, recognized globally. The exam complies with the ELP (European Language Portfolio) to measure proficiency in Turkish as a foreign language.
o It is best suitable for non-natives enrolling in Turkey’s schools or universities, to work in Turkish companies.
o The Turkish certification starts at the B2 level, neither A1 or A2;but candidates can obtain the Turkish language A1 / A2 test at TOMER, Istanbul University or Anadolu University.
o The core areas to be covered are writing, spoken, listening and reading.
o TYS (Türkçe Yeterlik Sınavı) certificate is valid for two years.
o The test is conducted thrice a year.
UTS - Distance Turkish Test (Uzaktan Türkçe Sınavı)
Uzaktan Türkçe Sınavı is an online-based Turkish language test developed TOMER (Ankara Üniversitesi Türkçe ve Yabancı Dil Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi) to measure proficiency in Turkish as a foreign language.
o It is best suitable for teaching Turkish to foreigners.
o The core areas to be covered are grammar, writing, spoken, listening and reading.
TELC - The European Language Certificates
This globally recognized certification is accepted in Turkey for VISA, Residence permit and Citizenship.
o This certificate is for non-native speakers.
o The examination evaluates four skills i.e., listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
o This certification will be valid for a lifetime.

TELC Türkçe B2 Okul
TELC Türkçe B2 Okul tests general Turkish language competence at an advanced level.
o This exam is suitable for pupils aged from about 15 to 19.
